Holiday events that return every December
Most Christmas play happens inside games people already have. These are the seasonal events worth watching for, with what is confirmed and what is not.
- Fortnite Winterfest. Last year it ran from December 18, 2025 to January 5, 2026 with daily free gifts. Epic has not announced the 2026 dates yet and usually reveals them in late November or early December.
- Roblox holiday updates. Many Roblox games add winter maps, holiday items or advent-style events in December. Each developer sets its own dates, so check the game page.
- Google Santa Tracker. Santa's Village opens each December as a countdown, with a new game or activity unlocking each day. On December 24 it turns into the live Santa tracker.
- Poki Christmas hub. Poki keeps its holiday web games on one Christmas page, with a winter theme in the colder months. It is an easy way to find a seasonal game on a laptop.
Christmas days inside games you may already own
These cost nothing extra, which makes them the cheapest Christmas game of the year. Set a reminder and log in on the day.
- Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Toy Day lands on December 24. Jingle the reindeer visits your island and you help him wrap and deliver presents to your neighbors.
- Stardew Valley. The Feast of the Winter Star happens on Winter 25 in the game calendar. A week before, a letter names the villager you give a secret gift to.
- Pokemon GO. The game runs a winter holiday event each December with festive costume Pokemon. In 2025 Part 1 started on December 18. Dates arrive in the game news a few weeks ahead.
