## How Don't Splash plays

The setting is the Poolrooms, the tiled, half-flooded version of the Backrooms that went viral online. Each stage is a run of rooms, ramps and water you have to cross to reach the exit. As of the late October update there are nine rooms.

The monster cannot see you. It hears you. Every splash pulls it toward you, and so do the loud maintenance machines in some rooms. A sign on the wall tells you as much: it hears the water. Dry platforms are where you are safe.


## How to survive

- **Walk dry**: Stay on tiles and ledges whenever you can. Every step in the water is a sound.
- **Respect the machines**: Noisy machines attract the creature too, so do not wait next to one.
- **Hide on dry ground**: If it is coming, get out of the water and stand still on a platform.
- **Plan the swim**: When you must cross water, pick the shortest line and go once, not back and forth.
- **Learn the room order**: Knowing where the valves and exit are cuts down on panicked splashing.

A blind hunter is a classic horror rule, because it turns the player's own noise into the danger. A few you may know:
