Dress to Impress: get the theme, build the look, walk the runway
Dress to Impress is a fashion competition game on Roblox, made by a group led by a developer known as Gigi. It released on November 11, 2023. Each round gives everyone a theme, a few minutes to style an outfit, and a runway walk where the other players rate your look with stars.

How a round works
Good placements raise your rank, and higher ranks unlock more items. There is also a duo mode with a partner and a freeplay mode with no timer, for practice.
- 1. The theme. The round opens with a theme such as a decade, a movie genre or a party. Everyone gets the same one.
- 2. The dressing room. You have a timer, about six minutes, to put together up to 18 clothing items and set makeup, skin tone and nails. Colors can be changed.
- 3. The runway. When time is up, each player walks the catwalk while the others rate the look from one to five stars.
- 4. The podium. The three looks with the most stars stand on the podium.
Why it took off
The loop is short, social and easy to judge: everyone can tell if a look fits the theme. It became one of the fastest Roblox experiences to reach a billion visits. In 2024 it was the most-played game on Roblox for a time and won three Roblox Innovation Awards. Collaborations with Charli XCX, Lady Gaga and Wicked brought in waves of new players.
Tips for more stars
- Read the theme literally first. Voters reward looks they understand at a glance.
- Pick one color story. Two or three colors read better on the runway than ten.
- Finish early, then add details. A complete outfit with no shoes loses stars.
- Pose on the runway. A pose and a walk help a look stand out in a full lobby.

Dress to Impress is free on Roblox, on phones, PC, consoles and VR headsets. Roam does not have a dress-up contest in its catalog right now, but you can describe one and play it with friends on your iPhone, with your own themes and your own rules for voting.
