# How to make a Roblox game on mobile in 2026

Roblox Studio, the free tool behind most Roblox games, runs only on Windows and Mac. On a phone, the official path is Roblox Build: an AI tab in the Roblox mobile app that turns a typed prompt into a basic game. As of November 2026 Build is still rolling out, and Roblox said a broader US rollout comes in December.

## Roblox Build on your phone, step by step

These steps come from Roblox's own Build guide. They only work once the Build tab shows up in your app.

- **1. Update the app and pass the age check**: Build is for age-checked accounts 9 and older. If there is no Build tab, it has not reached your region yet.
- **2. Describe the game**: Use plain words: the goal, what you collect, how you lose. Build makes the mechanics, characters, environment, style, sound and achievements.
- **3. Refine with follow-ups**: Each message is one change, like "make the coins bigger". Each one also counts as one prompt from your daily allowance.
- **4. Playtest and share (coming soon)**: Roblox's guide says playtesting is not in Build yet. Once it is, up to 10 friends can try a private link before you publish. They need Roblox accounts and must be 9 or older.
- **5. Publish**: Tap Publish, a quick safety check runs, and the game goes on your profile. Build games are set to players 16 and older by default. Younger audiences need the Roblox Select review.

## What Build can and cannot do yet

Build focuses on 2D and 2.5D games. Roblox says it works best for clickers, arcade games, collect-and-score games, side-scrollers and puzzles. 3D is planned but not supported yet, so a full 3D obby is still a Studio job on a computer.

Each Build game has one creator, so you cannot build it with a friend. Opening a Build game in Roblox Studio turns it into a normal Studio game for good.

The base version is free. You get a set number of free prompts each day, and Roblox does not publish the number. After that, wait for the reset or buy credits with Robux. Bought credits do not expire.


## Other phone and tablet options

- **iPad and Android**: Studio has no iPad or Android version. Build lives in the Roblox app, which is on iPhone, iPad and Android, but Roblox does not list which devices get Build.
- **Studio Lite**: A building experience inside Roblox, made by the Roblox user @ScottSpiritWalker, not by Roblox. It builds simpler games on mobile and publishes them to your Roblox profile.

## Make a Roblox-style game on iPhone with Roam

Roam is a separate iPhone app, not part of Roblox. Describe a game in a sentence, or start from a photo of your dog, and it comes back playable with a world, art, characters, sound and rules. Change it by talking: "more enemies", "make it two-player". Play solo or with friends.

Roam games are played in Roam, not on Roblox. Roam is free to download and play, and making games works without a subscription. Optional Spark and Reality plans and credit packs add more creation. Android is pre-register only on Google Play. Roam is rated 13+ on the App Store.

## Questions people ask

**Can you make a Roblox game on mobile for free?**
Yes, with Roblox Build where it is available. The base version is free with a daily prompt allowance, and more costs Robux. Roblox Studio is free too, but needs a Windows PC or Mac.

**Can I use Roblox Build in the US?**
Not widely yet. As of November 2026, Roblox said a broader US rollout comes in December and a global launch in 2027. Before that it was tested in New Zealand, Singapore, Serbia and Thailand.

**Can you make a Roblox game without Studio?**
Yes. Build makes 2D and 2.5D games in the mobile app. For 3D games and scripting in Luau you still need Studio on a computer.
