Studio's built-in Assistant writes Luau and builds inside your project, Roblox Build turns a prompt into a game in the mobile app, and chatbots like ChatGPT write scripts you paste in yourself. Roam is separate: it makes Roblox-like games you play in Roam, not on Roblox. ## The AI routes compared - **Studio Assistant**: Built into Roblox Studio on Windows and macOS. It can write and run Luau, place objects and generate meshes. An April 2026 update added a planning mode and a playtesting agent in beta. - **Roblox Build**: A prompt-to-game tab in the Roblox mobile app, announced July 2026. The public alpha began in New Zealand, needs an age check (accounts 9+) and has a daily AI allowance. On its Q3 2026 earnings call, Roblox said a broader US rollout is planned for December 2026. - **ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini**: In chat, each one writes Luau you paste in yourself. Each also has a tool that connects to Studio through its MCP server. More on each below. ## Make a Roblox game with ChatGPT In the ChatGPT app, describe one feature and ask for the Luau script. ChatGPT cannot open Studio or publish for you, so you paste the code, press Play and paste errors back. Codex CLI, OpenAI's coding tool, is on Studio's quick-connect list, so it can work on your open place directly. ## Make a Roblox game with Claude Claude Desktop and Claude Code connect to Studio's MCP server. Turn it on in Studio under Assistant, then Manage MCP Servers. Claude can then explore your place, write scripts, run Luau and start playtests. Roblox warns that a connected tool can change your open place, so connect only tools you trust. ## Make a Roblox game with Gemini Gemini CLI is on the same quick-connect list and works on your open place the same way. In the Gemini app, it writes Luau scripts you paste into Studio yourself. Like the others, it cannot publish to Roblox for you. ## Roblox Studio Assistant: what it does and its daily limit Studio has its own AI helper, called Assistant. You open it with the Assistant button on the right side of the mezzanine bar in Studio. Roblox says it answers questions about Roblox development, explains code, writes and changes scripts, adds, edits and deletes parts, and inserts assets from the Creator Store. It can also restyle parts with generated materials and make textured 3D meshes and procedural models. The one cap Roblox lists in the Assistant guide is for procedural models: up to 50 in a rolling 24-hour window, so the count frees up as older requests pass 24 hours, not at a set time. The guide lists no daily cap for chat or scripts (checked November 2026). Assistant runs inside Studio, so it needs a Windows PC or Mac like the rest of Studio. ## A workflow that works in Studio - **1. Start from a template**: Classic Obby or Racing gives the AI a working base instead of an empty baseplate. - **2. Ask for one feature**: "Add a coin that gives the player 1 point on a leaderboard." Small asks fail less. - **3. Press Play**: Test it right away, as a player. - **4. Paste errors back**: Copy the red lines from the Output window into the Assistant or chatbot. - **5. Repeat, then publish**: Add features one at a time. Publishing to Roblox is free. ## On mobile, or without Roblox On a phone, Roblox Build is the only way to make an actual Roblox game, and only in regions where it has launched. Studio still needs a computer. If you want the game more than the platform, Roam on iPhone takes a sentence or a photo and returns a playable game with art and sound. You still test the game and publish it to Roblox yourself. **Can you make Roblox games with AI on mobile?** Yes, with Roblox Build in the Roblox mobile app, where it is available.
