# Palworld: catch the Pals, then put them to work

Source: https://roam.new/palworld/. Checked November 3, 2026.

Palworld is a creature-catching survival game from the Tokyo studio Pocketpair. It went into early access in January 2024 and left it with version 1.0 on July 10, 2026. You catch creatures called Pals, build a base, and give them jobs, from mining to cooking to fighting at your side.

Where to play the original: [Palworld on Steam](https://store.steampowered.com/app/1623730/).

## How Palworld plays

You start on an island with almost nothing. You punch trees, craft basic tools and build a workbench, the same first hour as most survival games. Then you get Pal Spheres. Weaken a wild Pal, throw a sphere, and if it holds, the Pal is yours.

Pals do more than fight. Each one has work skills like mining, lumbering, kindling, watering or transporting. Put them in your base and they cut wood, run furnaces and carry items while you go out exploring. Some Pals can be ridden or flown, which is how you cross the bigger map.

The world is open and full of bosses, towers and rival groups. You can play solo, with friends in co-op, or on dedicated servers.

## Where to play Palworld

Palworld is on PC through Steam and the Microsoft Store, on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S, on PlayStation 5, and on Mac. As of November 2026 there is no Switch 2 version and no phone version. Krafton licensed the Palworld IP from Pocketpair, and its PUBG Studios team announced it is developing a mobile version. As of November 2026 it had not been given a release date. Before that version is out, an app that claims to be Palworld mobile is not the official game.

Nintendo and The Pokemon Company sued Pocketpair in Tokyo in September 2024 over patents tied to catching creatures. Pocketpair changed some mechanics in patches and disputes the claims. As of November 2026 the case was still open.

## Make your own creature-catching game with Roam

Roam is a free iPhone app that turns a sentence into a playable game. Say what you catch, what the creatures do at your base and who the boss is, then change it by talking. Roam is rated 13+ on the App Store.

Try: "catch tiny fire creatures with jars, they work at my farm, a giant boss on the volcano, my friends can join"
