# Slither.io: eat, grow, and make them crash

Slither.io is a multiplayer snake game by Steve Howse, released in 2016 on the web and later on iPhone and Android. You steer a snake through an arena full of other players, eat glowing orbs to grow, and win by making other snakes run into your body.

## The rules

Your snake follows your mouse or finger. Eat the small orbs scattered around the map to get longer. If your head touches another snake's body, you die and turn into a pile of big orbs for everyone else. That also works the other way: if their head hits you, you get to eat what they leave.

You can boost by holding the button. Boosting makes you faster but burns length, so you shrink while you use it. A good boost at the right moment cuts in front of a rival's head and ends their run.


## Tips to get bigger

- **Circle small snakes**: Once you are long, wrap around a smaller snake and close the circle. It has nowhere to go.
- **Follow big fights**: When a large snake dies, it leaves a feast. Get there fast.
- **Boost to cut, not to travel**: Save boost for the moment you can slip in front of someone's head.
- **Stay away from the middle early**: The center is crowded. Grow along the edges first.
- **Watch heads, not bodies**: Only heads can kill you. Keep track of where they are pointing.
