# Steal an Egg on Roblox: how it works

Steal an Egg is a Roblox game that came out in July 2026. You hatch eggs into pets that earn money, steal better eggs from other players and build up your own base. It takes the Steal a Brainrot formula and swaps brainrots for pet eggs.

## How Steal an Egg works

Every player has a base. Pets in your base earn money over time, and that money buys upgrades. The fastest way to get rare pets is to take eggs from someone else, which is also what everyone else is trying to do to you.

- **Hatch**: Eggs hatch into pets. Rarer eggs, sizes and mutations give pets that earn more.
- **Earn**: Pets in your base make money, which you spend on your base and your treadmill.
- **Train**: Running on the treadmill raises your Speed, and speed is what gets a stolen egg home.
- **Steal**: Run into another base, grab an egg and get back before the owner catches you.

## Why everyone is playing it

The game climbed fast after launch. Player trackers ranked it among the most played games on Roblox in September 2026. Numbers differ between trackers, but it is one of the biggest Roblox launches of the year.

Success brings copycats. Break and Steal an Egg is a separate game from other developers, and there are spin-offs like Steal a Dino Egg and Steal a Fish Egg. If you want the original, check the exact name on Roblox before you join.

## Tips for new players

- **Speed first**: Early cash on speed pays back, because a slow thief gets caught on the way home.
- **Rarity over count**: One rare mutated pet can out-earn a row of common ones.
- **Pick your moment**: Steal when the owner is busy raiding someone else, not while they stand at home.
- **Do not leave rare eggs alone**: Your best eggs are what other players are hunting.
