What does 67 mean? The six-seven meme, explained
The 67 meme means nothing on purpose. Kids shout "six seven" with a seesaw hand move as a random joke. It comes from a 2024 song and 2025 basketball videos, and it got so big that Dictionary.com made it the 2025 Word of the Year.
Where six-seven came from
- The song. "Doot Doot (6 7)" by the rapper Skrilla came out in December 2024. The words "six seven" are the hook.
- The basketball edits. In 2025 TikTok editors put the song over clips of NBA player LaMelo Ball, who is 6 foot 7. The hook became the intro to his highlight videos.
- The hand move. Kids added a gesture: both palms up, moving up and down like a scale. A viral clip from a youth basketball game made it spread.
- The word of the year. Dictionary.com picked "6-7" for 2025 and said it is meaningless on purpose.
What it means when your kid says it
Usually nothing. It is a way to be in on a joke. Ask a kid what time it is, how tall someone is, or what they got on a test, and the answer is 67. Some people read it as "so-so" because of the hand move, but there is no rule.
Skrilla himself has said he never gave it a meaning. It is not rude, not a code and not linked to anything bad. The fun is that adults do not get it.
Games built on the meme
Most 67 games are clickers, counters or number guessing games, because the meme is just a number. Some mix in basketball, since that is where the edits came from.
On Roam, Read My Head is a multiplayer game where you read the number on another player's head before they read yours. It fits the number joke well. You can also make your own 67 game in one sentence.
