Slay the Spire 2: the deckbuilder is back, now with co-op
Slay the Spire 2 is the sequel to Mega Crit's roguelike deckbuilder. It entered Steam Early Access on March 5, 2026 for PC, Mac and Linux. It is still in Early Access. The big change is online co-op for up to four players, along with two new characters and a new climb up the Spire.

How a run works
You pick a character with a starting deck and climb the Spire one room at a time. The map branches, so you choose your path: fights, elite fights, rest sites, shops, unknown events and a boss at the end of each act.
In a fight you draw cards and spend energy to play them. Attacks deal damage, skills block or set up, powers stay for the whole fight. The enemy shows what it plans to do next, so every turn is a small puzzle. After each win you pick a new card, and relics add rules that change how your deck plays.
What is new in the sequel
- Four-player co-op. Climb together online. Each player brings a character, and there are cards made for team play.
- New heroes. The Necrobinder and the Regent join the returning Ironclad, Silent and Defect.
- A new Spire. New enemies, events, relics and cards across the acts.
- Early Access updates. Mega Crit keeps adding to it during Early Access and has said it is working on another Act 2 and the next new character.
Tips for your first climbs
- Skip cards. A small, focused deck draws its best cards more often.
- Fight elites when healthy. Their relics are worth it, but only if you have HP to spare.
- Read the intents. Block on big attack turns, attack on setup turns.
