The steal-and-defend loop
Brainrot characters walk past your base and you buy the ones you can afford. Every brainrot in your base earns money each second, so the more and rarer you own, the faster you grow.
The catch is that anyone can walk into your base and carry one off. You can lock your base for a short time, then it opens again. Most of the game is timing: when to lock, when to raid, and when to run home.
- Buy. Pick up brainrots as they pass, from common to very rare.
- Earn. Each brainrot makes cash per second while it sits in your base.
- Steal. Grab one from another base and carry it home before they stop you.
- Lock. Close your base for a short window to protect what you have.
Why it took over
The Italian brainrot memes were everywhere in 2025, and the game turned them into something you could own and lose. Its October 2025 peak of over 25 million concurrent players was a Roblox record. In early 2026 it hosted a Bruno Mars concert that Guinness World Records listed as the largest concert in a video game.
It also started a wave of copies, from Steal an Egg on Roblox to steal-the-brainrot islands in Fortnite. The original is on Roblox.
