Grow a Garden is a Roblox farming game launched in March 2025. You plant seeds, wait for the crops to grow, sell them and buy rarer seeds and pets. It peaked at 22.3 million players online at once on August 23, 2025, and was the first Roblox game past 20 million.

How the loop works

Plant. Buy seeds at the shop and plant them on your plot. Common seeds are cheap, rare ones restock less often.
Wait. Crops grow over real time. Some give one harvest, others keep fruiting.
Sell. Take the harvest to the seller for cash. Bigger and rarer crops pay more.
Upgrade. Spend the cash on better seeds, gear and eggs that hatch pets with helpful boosts.
Hope for mutations. Weather events can mutate crops, which multiplies what they sell for.

Why it got so big

Grow a Garden is calm. There is no way to lose, the goal is always one seed away, and checking back on your plot feels good. Updates added new seeds, pets and weather events often, and limited stock made everyone log in at the same time.

That mix took it past Fortnite's concurrent player record in 2025. It also set off a wave of copycat farming games on Roblox.

What happened with Grow a Garden 2

A sequel, Grow a Garden 2, launched on Roblox in 2026 and peaked near a million players online in June 2026. It has faded since. Both games are free and only on Roblox.

Voxel Harvest is a cozy farming tycoon: plant it, water it, sell it, plant more. Sprout Stand puts the crops at your own farm stand. Farm is a simple casual farming sim. Follow the Fox adds a floating farm, a pear harvest and a fox to follow. None of them are Grow a Garden, but they share the slow plant-and-sell rhythm.
