Bee Swarm Simulator: how the pollen, honey and hive loop works
Bee Swarm Simulator is a Roblox game by the solo developer Onett, released in March 2018. You walk flower fields with a swarm of bees, fill your bag with pollen, and take it back to your hive to turn into honey. Honey buys eggs, eggs hatch new bees, and a bigger swarm collects faster.
The loop, step by step
- 1. Collect. Stand in a field with a tool. You and your bees gather pollen into your backpack.
- 2. Convert. When the bag is full, go back to the hive. Your pollen becomes honey.
- 3. Rest. Bees use energy, so let them recover after a big trip.
- 4. Spend. Honey buys eggs, better tools and a bigger backpack.
- 5. Grow. Eggs hatch bees of different types and rarities. More bees, faster trips, new fields.
Quests, bears and fights
The world is full of bear characters who hand out quests. Quests point you at a field, ask for a pollen color or a number of monsters, and pay out items and honey. They are the main way the game teaches you where to go next.
Some quests involve fighting. Monsters and bosses guard parts of the map, and some bees are better at defending you than at collecting. A good hive mixes both.
Onett has kept updating the game for years, and it still has tens of thousands of players online at a time.
A Roam bee game
Bee Keeper Adventure on Roam is a short bee-collecting game built on the same idea: fill the pollen bar, fly home, make honey. It is a separate game, not Bee Swarm Simulator, and it is quick to pick up between longer sessions.
