Stumble Guys: the phone-first knockout party
Stumble Guys is a party knockout game from the Finnish studio Kitka Games, launched worldwide in 2021. Up to 32 players race through obstacle rounds until one is left. Scopely bought the game in 2022, and it has since moved from phones to PC and every major console.
How a match plays
A match is a run of short rounds. Each round knocks out part of the lobby, either by making you miss the finish line or by dropping you off the map. The players who survive move on, and the last round decides the winner.
Rounds rotate between races, survival maps and elimination maps such as Block Dash, where you jump over walls that sweep across the floor. Controls are simple: a stick to run, a button to jump and a button to dive. Emotes and skins are cosmetic. New maps arrive with updates, and Stumble Workshop lets players build and share their own levels.
Where to play Stumble Guys
The game is free with in-app purchases on all platforms. Crossplay lets friends on different devices join the same match.
- Phones. iPhone and Android, where the game started.
- PC. On Steam since 2021.
- Xbox. Since January 2024.
- PlayStation. Since May 2024.
- Nintendo Switch. Since August 2024, with crossplay.
Tips for your first wins
- Do not rush the start. The first seconds are a pile-up. Take the side path and let the crowd clear.
- Jump less on beams. Narrow beams and moving platforms punish panic jumps. Walk them when you can.
- Watch the pattern. Hammers and sweepers repeat. Wait one cycle on hard spots instead of guessing.
- Stay in the middle. On falling-tile maps the edges go first, and you have more room to jump from the center.
