Murder Mystery 2: roles, rounds and tips
Murder Mystery 2, or MM2, is a Roblox game by Nikilis that has run since 2014. Each round picks one Murderer, one Sheriff and a group of Innocents. The Murderer has a knife, the Sheriff has a gun, and everyone else has to survive and work out who did it.
The three roles
Roles are random every round, so you play all three over a session. Maps rotate between places like a house, an office and a hotel, so hiding spots change every round.
- Murderer. Has a knife and wins by taking out everyone before time runs out.
- Sheriff. Has a gun and wins by finding and shooting the Murderer.
- Innocent. Has no weapon, collects coins and wins by surviving the round.
How a round plays out
Everyone spawns on a map with no idea who is who. Innocents roam and pick up coins. The Murderer tries to get people alone, and the Sheriff watches for who is acting strange.
If the Sheriff shoots an Innocent by mistake, the Sheriff dies and drops the gun. Any Innocent who grabs it becomes the Hero and can still win the round. Coins buy knife and gun skins, and trading those skins is a big part of the game's community.
Words MM2 players use
- Godly. The top rarity for knives and guns. Godlies come from crates, events and trades.
- Chroma. Color-shifting versions of some godly weapons, and some of the most traded items.
- Hero. An Innocent who picked up the dropped gun.
- Knife throw. The Murderer can throw the knife, so distance alone does not keep you safe.
Tips for each role
- As Innocent. Stay near other players and keep moving. Alone in a corner is where rounds end.
- As Sheriff. Wait until you are sure. One wrong shot loses you the gun.
- As Murderer. Act like an Innocent. Pick people off where nobody is watching.
- Watch the gun. If the Sheriff goes down, get to the dropped gun before the Murderer waits next to it.
