New pirate games worth setting sail for
2026 has been a big year for pirates. Windrose sold more than a million copies in its first week after its April early access launch, and Assassin's Creed Black Flag came back as a full remake in July. Here are the new pirate games, the older ones still full of crews, and pirate games you can play on an iPhone.

New pirate games from 2025 and 2026
- Windrose (early access, April 14, 2026). Co-op pirate survival on PC from Kraken Express, published by Pocketpair. Build a base and a ship, sail, fight other ships and survive with friends. It sold more than a million copies in its first six days.
- Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced (July 9, 2026). A full remake of Edward Kenway's 2013 pirate story on PS5, Xbox Series and PC. Reviewers single out the sailing and the pirate life at sea as the best part, just like the original.
- Skull and Bones, Year 3 (2026). Ubisoft's 2024 naval game is in its third year of updates. A new ship, the Galleon, arrived in June 2026. On PS5, Xbox Series and PC.
- Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii (February 21, 2025). Sega's spin-off turns Goro Majima into a pirate captain. Street brawls on land, ship battles at sea, and a lot of jokes in between.
The pirate games people still sail
New is not always better at sea. These two still have the busiest decks.
- Sea of Thieves (Rare, 2018). The big pirate sandbox. A crew of friends sails one ship, digs up treasure and fights other crews. The Custom Seas update in June 2026 added a level editor, so you can set up your own modes.
- Blox Fruits on Roblox. You pick pirate or marine, sail between islands and eat fruits that give you powers. Free, and one of the longest-running hits on Roblox.
Pirate games on Roam
Roam is a free iPhone app, and three games in its feed are pure pirate. Ransom the Ship is a first-person heist: board it, tie them up, make the call. Tack & Plunder is about sailing, so you catch the wind before the boarders catch you. BROADSIDE BLITZ is the cannon game: load up, because the navy keeps coming.
All three play solo, and Ransom the Ship and BROADSIDE BLITZ let friends join the crew. If none of them is your kind of pirate story, describe the one you want and Roam builds it.
