New racing games of 2026

2026 brought a Forza Horizon set in Japan and a racing game in Roblox's fall lineup, after a 2025 where Nintendo and Sega fought over the kart crowd. Here are the new racing games by style and platform, plus Roam racers you can play on iPhone right now.

The new racers, by style

Open world: Forza Horizon 6 (May 19, 2026). Playground Games takes the series to Japan, with Tokyo as one of its most detailed areas. Xbox Series X|S and PC first, PS5 after launch.
Roblox: Octane. An open-world racer from Ignition Switch, made through Roblox's Incubator program and listed for October in Roblox's fall 2026 preview. Free on Roblox.
Kart: Mario Kart World (June 2025). The Switch 2 launch kart racer, with tracks joined into one world.
Kart: Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds (September 25, 2025). Sega's kart racer on PC, PlayStation, Xbox, Switch and Switch 2, with crossplay.
Air racing: Kirby Air Riders (November 20, 2025). Nintendo's Switch 2 racer on floating Air Ride machines.
Drift: JDM: Japanese Drift Master (May 2025). Gaming Factory's open-world drift game, on PC since May 2025, then Xbox Series and PS5.

Kart racers keep the pack close with items. Street racers are about traffic and speed. Stunt racers are about the jump, not the lap time. Drift games score style over position. Choose the feeling first and the platform second.
