These are dated, shipped games, not wishlists. Platforms are the launch platforms.

• Dragon Quest VII Reimagined (February 5). Square Enix rebuilt the 2000 classic from the ground up, with diorama-style worlds. Out on Switch, Switch 2, PS5, Xbox Series and PC.
• Nioh 3 (February 6). Team Ninja's hard samurai action RPG on PS5 and PC. Expect to die a lot and learn every enemy.
• Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection (March 13). The turn-based Monster Hunter spin-off about taming monsters instead of only hunting them. On PS5, Xbox Series, PC and Switch 2.
• Crimson Desert (March 19). Pearl Abyss's open-world action RPG, years in the making, launched on PC, Mac, PS5 and Xbox Series at the same time.
• Phantom Blade Zero (October 29). S-GAME's fast kung fu action RPG on PS5 and PC. It slipped from September and launched with more than 720,000 players at once on Steam.

New RPGs you can play on a phone

Big open-world RPGs on phones want long sessions and a charged battery. They are great on a sofa. On a bus, a top-down RPG with short quests fits better.

• Arknights: Endfield. Launched January 22, 2026 on iOS, Android, PS5 and PC. A real-time squad RPG with base building from the Arknights team.
• Neverness to Everness. Free, out April 29, 2026 on iOS, Android, PC, PS5 and Mac. An open city with supernatural cases, four-hero teams and driving.
• Monster Hunter Outlanders. Launched October 29, 2026 for iOS and Android. TiMi Studio Group made it under license from Capcom, with co-op hunts for up to four.
• Genshin Impact. HoYoverse's 2020 hit is still the reference point every new mobile action RPG gets compared to.

Roam RPGs that fit a short break

Roam is a free iPhone app where you play games and make your own, and its RPGs are built for short runs. PIXELVALE is a top-down action RPG: sword, bow, three potions and goblins on the road to Millbrook. Thornvale follows a green-tunic hero and a fairy up a long staircase. Aethervale is a top-down action RPG with goblins on the gate road.

Blade Ascent is an anime tower climb: slimes first, then seven floors. WAYFARE: Wildlands is a first-person voxel RPG with a sword, a bow and goblins ahead. CARDBOUND swaps swords for cards: collect them, build a deck, win the duel cup.
