Content Warning: the horror game where you film the monster
Content Warning is a co-op horror game from Landfall, released on Steam on April 1, 2024. It was free for its first 24 hours, and millions of people claimed it. Up to four friends take a diving bell into a spooky place called the Old World, film whatever tries to kill them, and upload the footage to SpookTube for views.
How a run works
Each day you pick up the camera, get in the diving bell and go down. The Old World is dark and full of monsters. The scarier and stranger the footage, the more views it gets later. Someone has to hold the camera, and someone has to be in the shot.
Back on the surface you upload the video and watch how it does. Views turn into money for new gear, like lights, better cameras and props for your videos. You have three days to reach a view quota. Miss it and the run ends, with the money and equipment gone.
The game is short and loud and very funny with friends. Most of the fun is in watching the clips afterward, falls and screams included.
Tips for better views
- Film the monster, not the floor. Clear shots of a creature are worth far more than shaky running.
- Keep the camera person safe. If the camera is left down there, the footage goes with it.
- Stay with the bell. Players left behind when the bell goes up do not make it home.
- Plan for day three. Check the quota after each upload and take bigger risks only if you are behind.
